“Voters would be wise to support Proposition HH

Opponents of Proposition HH have sent out fliers incorrectly claiming that the measure will eliminate TABOR refunds.

The ballot question will provide significant relief from the unsustainable property tax increases driven by the skyrocketing inflation in home values while also assuring that our public schools, predominantly funded by local property tax, still receive the anticipated and much-needed boost in local revenue.”

“The best argument for HH is that it averts a crisis. If it doesn’t pass, the resulting 40% increase in property taxes will be felt by everyone. But it also sets the table for something much worse. Already there’s a proposal to lock in a statewide solution in the state Constitution. HH’s failure would likely make the alternative palatable, even if it pushed Colorado back into another fiscal thicket.”

It’s a terrifying prospect, and thankfully, in the final hours of the legislative session, our state lawmakers took action.
